Curriculum -- 3-6 Primary Department

K-6 Primary School

K-2 Infants Department and 3-6 Primary Department

Students in Years K – 6 enjoy an active learning environment, designed to give them the opportunity to achieve their personal best. Programmes are experiential and child-centred, recognising preferred learning styles.

We focus on the development of disciplined individual effort in a supportive atmosphere.
Our ‘holistic’ approach integrates the spiritual, physical, academic and social aspects of each student’s life. This is achieved through strong professional relationships between staff and students, based on understanding, empathy, encouragement and mutual respect. Emanuel School seeks to provide a stimulating environment that meets the developmental needs of each child.

Our children are encouraged to grow, reflect and experience success. Consequently, they are able to face future challenges, build on their strengths and accept their limitations without fear of failure or loss of self-esteem.

The curriculum for Year K – 6 is set by the Board of Studies and is organised into six Key Learning Areas: English; Mathematics; Science and Technology; Human Society and its Environment (HSIE); Creative and Performing Arts; Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE). These areas are complemented by Jewish and Hebrew Studies.

The development of a strong Jewish identity is an integral aspect of the children’s education at Emanuel. Emanuel remains at the forefront of Hebrew and Jewish Studies teaching in New South Wales. Our teachers have pioneered new and exciting programmes which enhance the children’s learning and enjoyment of Hebrew and Jewish Studies.
