Concerts and Music Camp
Concerts are a highlight of Emanuel School's artistic and cultural calendar - some large-scale and some intimate gatherings.
A selection of Emanuel's music concerts include:
|Night of Song||Night of Jazz||Night of Instrumental Music |
|Night of Rock||Twilight Concert Series ||Meet the Tutors Concert |
|Elective Music Soirees||Years K-2 Classroom Music Showcase Concert|
In addition, our Music and Drama Departments collaborate annually on musical productions for students in the High School. Our major musical productions are performed off-site in premiere theatrical venues, such as the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). Small-scale musical productions, with outstanding ensemble casts, are performed in the intimate Aron Kleinlehrer Performing Arts Centre (PAC) at Emanuel School.
The biennial Years K-6 Musical Production is performed in the Lehrer Family Multi-purpose Hall (MPH) and is a collaboration between the Music and Drama Departments and Emanuel's Years K-6 classroom teachers.
One of the highlights of the musical year is Emanuel School's annual Music Camp. All Years 4-12 students involved in extra-curricular Music ensembles have the opportunity to hone their skills at the camp and then perform for parents and friends at the Music Camp Showcase Concert.
Developing teamwork and camaraderie is one of the pivotal platforms of the camp. In its inaugural year, the Music Camp proved to be a valuable experience for the 90 students who attended. They were engaged in a multitude of musical experiences, extending from small workshops to a massed ensemble that involved every student at the camp. Outside the ensemble realm, students were involved in enrichment activities that served a vast array of musical interests, like DJ work, improvisation, creative practice, hand drumming, computer music, electronic music and dance. In 2010, more than 160 students attended Emanuel's Music Camp, an outstanding testimony to the significant level of participation in extra-curricular Music ensembles at the School.
