Values

Emanuel is a Community Jewish Day School that nurtures a commitment to Jewish community, heritage, ethical living and the State of Israel. We do this through a commitment to egalitarianism, pluralism, coexistence, tradition, mitzvot, Torah and Hebrew. We do so as Jewish, Australian and global citizens. In particular, we value:

Inspiring excellence (metzu’yanut)

We strive for personal excellence in all pursuits, setting high standards and working with determination to achieve our best. We believe in intellectual growth for all students; nurturing this through self-reflection, curiosity, and academic rigour. We encourage the setting of personally ambitious goals infused with an entrepreneurial spirit.

Upholding respect (kavod)

We treat every person with dignity, listening thoughtfully, and appreciating the unique contributions of others. We take responsibility for our actions, speaking and acting with care to ensure everyone feels valued and heard. We respect ourselves, others and the world.

Championing inclusion (hachlalah)

We honour difference and diversity, in an environment where equity and equality are upheld. We embrace the richness that comes from different backgrounds, abilities, identities, and perspectives. We seek to hear everyone’s voice and build a culture of belonging where all individuals thrive.

Uplifting the community (kehillah)

We believe community is an obligation as we are part of a larger whole. We are committed to Tikkun Olam. We give altruistically; we grow incidentally.

Spreading kindness (chesed)

We demonstrate empathy and generosity in our care for others. We are compassionate in our approach to others ensuring all individuals feel safe, respected, and valued. We believe every small act of kindness helps make our world brighter.
