Welcome from our Principal
It is my very great pleasure to serve as Principal of Emanuel School.
Emanuel is a caring and inclusive school community that is committed to nurturing the potential of every student to achieve their personal best. Our approach is grounded in our commitment to our mission as a pluralistic, egalitarian Jewish Day School which provides an outstanding, holistic education. The Emanuel School motto ‘Mind, Spirit, Being’ encapsulates what we seek to develop in our students; an open and curious mind, an awakened spirit and an engagement of the whole being, within a culture of excellence. We seek to do this in an environment filled with joy, connection and comradery, underpinned by our Jewish heritage.
We are committed to knowing each student and this is fostered through our approach to wellbeing. We understand the importance of a sense of connection and belonging in ensuring our students achieve their potential in all fields. Our focus is on the growth of the individual and achievement of personal best, celebrating achievements both big and small. Our dedicated and caring staff build strong relationships with parents, working in partnership to ensure students thrive at Emanuel.
Learning at Emanuel is a continuum that builds from the development of core skills through to conceptual mastery. Strong foundations are laid through our structured approach to the early years of learning. Students are challenged to engage in robust discussion and wrestle with ideas to develop the complexity of their understanding, intellectual curiosity and critical thinking. Creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial thinking are integral to our approach, encouraging students to delve deeply into areas of interest. Our students are supported to become independent learners with the confidence to challenge, question and apply their knowledge in novel and unfamiliar contexts.
As a pluralistic Jewish School, we affirm that there are many authentic ways to be Jewish and we offer opportunities for religious expression and education that mirror the diversity of our community. Grounded in the pillars of personal authenticity, community and education, our students develop a strong foundation of Jewish knowledge through learning, discussion, questioning and experiential Jewish activities. This foundational knowledge empowers students to form their unique Jewish identities, steeped in the roots of our past, engage with modern ethics and realities, and participate in the conversations creating the Jewish world today.
As each student graduates from Emanuel, they are empowered with the confidence to engage in life beyond the school gates as proactive, ethical and articulate citizens. They have the courage to stand up for what they believe, compassion and empathy for the needs of others, and the resilience to adapt to the challenges they will face. Our graduates have a deep connection to their Jewish heritage and values and celebrate the diversity of our Jewish community. They are committed to Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) and an ongoing contribution to the Jewish, Australian and global communities.
It is our privilege to walk this journey with them and we look forward to welcoming your family into the Emanuel community.
Welcome to our School!
