High School Leadership

Schools develop citizens of tomorrow and so need to offer much more than training in academic subjects.

While some students may be seen to exhibit leadership characteristics earlier than others, leadership skills, as well as the morals and ethics associated with leadership, need to be acquired through careful direction and experience. Emanuel School works in partnership with parents to identify and model these skills and values in a meaningful context, and nurture tomorrow’s leaders.

Our students are offered many opportunities for leadership through Primary and High School Student Representative Councils (SRC), our House system, Madrichim (student leaders) and Roshei Yahadut (Jewish Life leaders).

All Year 10 students complete a leadership training course during Jewish Studies (the Hadracha program), before being given the opportunity to nominate as Peer Support leaders in Year 11, who support the new Year 7 students as they begin High School.

Year 11 students may also opt in to the Madatz program (young leaders), becoming responsible for different areas of the Jewish Life of the School. Senior student leaders are supported in their development of leadership strategies and skills by teacher mentors.
