Today we celebrated Planet Ark’s Schools Tree Day by planting three citrus trees in our growing vegetable garden. Emanuel School’s commitment to sustainability and the environment is woven into the fabric of the School. Solar panels are perfectly positioned to make maximum use of the sun, food scraps from lunches and the canteen are composted and fed to our very happy worms; single use plastic bottles have been replaced with cardboard bottles, soft plastics are collected for recycling…. the list goes on.
Our students are always on the look out for additional ways to confront and work through the challenging global issue of climate change, and the role that they can play in securing their future and that of generations to come, in an authentic way.
