HSC success

December 20, 2017

Emanuel School’s HSC results for the class of 2017 reflect a diversity of student interest and strong achievement. We celebrate many high achievers in this year’s HSC, with over 40% of Emanuel students achieving an ATAR of over 90. The School ranked 43rd in the State, based on the percentage of Band 6 results across all subjects, and 16th overall in the State for our English Advanced, Extension 1 and Extension 2 results.

Anne Hastings, Principal, said: “We are delighted with the HSC results for our class of 2017. We had a higher percentage of Band 6 results than last year and our ranking, based on the Band 6 results, was consistent with last year. The pattern of very high achievement is again different, showing the diversity of the strengths of the School and our teachers. This year we had very strong results in English, with a 2nd in the State in English Extension 2 and 10th in English Advanced from Amy Altman, and an overall 16th in the State for our English Advanced, Extension 1 and Extension 2 results. Lauren Sussman was 7th in the State in PDHPE, an exceptional achievement.

“In addition, our Visual Arts, Drama and Music results were very high, reflecting the creative strengths of this year group. We are grateful to our teachers who have guided the students so expertly and comprehensively this year towards these very pleasing results and acknowledge the hard work of the students in working towards these fine achievements. They are exceptional young people who will no doubt make a considerable positive contribution to global society in their future.”
